Zhuoran Lucy Sun

Hi, I’m Zhuoran Sun (Lucy), a Master’s student in Computational Data Science at Carnegie Mellon University. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a joint major in Mathematics and Computer Science from Emory University.

Experiences

I am an engineer with 3+ years of experience designing and deploying end-to-end data systems across finance, cybersecurity, and cloud environments. Combines technical skills with business intuition and stakeholder collaboration. Proven success in internal client-facing roles requiring product thinking, rapid iteration, and reliable delivery.

Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have worked consistently to bridge the gap between technology and business operations by developing tools and analytics that drive meaningful outcomes. During my time at The Emory Wheel in college, I identified inefficiencies in lead tracking with Google Sheets and developed a more accessible system to streamline interactions and improve productivity.

After graduating, I joined Truist Securities, where I built reporting pipelines to enhance the generation and visualization of key reports, helping senior management to make strategic decisions. Later, I joined the project to develop an event-driven system for tracking bid and offer prices. This system improved real-time monitoring, enabling the trading desk to make faster and more informed decisions. I was lucky to be able to lead a trading strategy analysis on bond Request for Quote data, performing time series analysis to support the electronic trading business.

Currently, as a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University in the Master of Computational Data Science program, I am gaining hands-on experience with large-scale datasets and advanced algorithms, further honing my technical and problem-solving skills.

Please check out my resume.
